ABOUT INKHORN APPAREL

Welcome to Inkhorn Apparel, my brand that goes beyond fashion. I'm Susan, the founder and creator, and I'm delighted to share the story behind my unique line of impactful premium streetwear and accessories.

With a background in academics and teaching, following my Law degree and MSc Criminology and Criminal Psychology, my interest lies at the intersection of theology and social psychology. As an unapologetic libertarian and advocate of traditional conservative values and responsible capitalism, I have noticed the post-pandemic shift in human behaviour and social psychology. My response to this shift is Inkhorn Apparel, serving as an anchor and a street ministry for those whose values align.

My life journey is adversely affected by Complex PTSD and the challenges it brings, but my hand-drawn artwork is a form of therapy I use to navigate challenges as they arise. As a result, Inkhorn’s unique designs are a very personal reflection of both my thoughts and my constant strive for healing and personal growth. It is for this reason my brand supports the charity Trauma Breakthrough, who have been an excellent resource and support countless individuals with therapy and psycho-education to get their lives back on track. I also support Life Charity Bath, who offer help and housing solutions to pregnant and postpartum women facing circumstances that might otherwise force them into an abortion.

I set up Inkhorn Apparel, after feeling disheartened that I couldn’t find streetwear apparel that both honoured my values and was stylish. Wanted to design garments that were more than just disposable thoughtless fashion. As a result I created Inkhorn to produce subtle and thought-provoking products that aim to start conversations.

I showcase quotes from thought-leaders, psychologists and theologians, with the intention to build community and conversation. By incorporating Biblical Hebrew and Greek into my Christian designs, I strive to accurately represent the gospel for all denominations and encourage wearers to confidently engage in faith conversations. When someone asks, "What does the Greek on your shirt say?" it presents a unique opportunity to share the gospel in a non-confrontational way. My designs serve as doorways to meaningful discussions and the chance to make a lasting impact whilst looking great.

Quality and great design is also paramount. I rejecting the notion of disposable fashion, and believe in the power of aligning values with purchasing choices and daily life. That's why every garment I create is certified organic, sustainable, and manufactured in FairWear certified factories. I am infuriated by spending money on clothes which then fall apart after a wash or shrink in ridiculous ways. I won’t sell garbage, Inkhorn apparel is designed for the long haul and to impress with its quality. I want you to buy 4 t-shirts because you love them, not because the first 3 wore out.

I am transparent about the fulfillment process, as it might take a little longer to receive your purchase compared to buying from household brands and larger e-commerce stores. This is not because I dropship cheap goods from overseas. Once an order is placed, it is sent to my sustainable eco-printers in South Wales, UK. Each garment is printed to order, ensuring that waste is minimised therefore not adding to the global 92 million tonnes of garments going to landfill annually. While this may result in a slight delay in dispatch, I believe it's worth the inconvenience.
